I'm Josh Bussey, the founder of Groundbase and the only person who builds it. By trade I'm a senior product designer, with more than 12 years spent making complex software make sense. I designed every screen in Groundbase and wrote every line of its code.

Building a house is tough.

It takes hundreds of decisions, and nearly every one of them touches money: the builder contract, the allowances, each finish you pick, the change orders, the construction loan and how it draws, the cash you've set aside, and the mortgage you'll carry when it's done.

Most of that ends up in spreadsheets. One for the budget, another for selections, the bank's draw statements somewhere else, the builder's portal somewhere else again. Each one answers its own small question. Keeping them all together is the hard part.

And none of them answers the question that matters most: does the money still work?

I went looking for something that did. There were useful guides and calculators here and there, but nothing comprehensive. Nothing that pulled it all together and said: here is your financial picture for the build.

So I built Groundbase. It connects your budget, actual costs, allowances and selections, change orders, construction loan draws, cash, and debt-to-income ratio into one live plan. Change one number and you see what it does to everything else.

My own house build runs through it, so Groundbase gets tested against a real construction budget and real loan draws, not a demo.
